Sandy Pate died this morning at 10:00 am. Thank you for all your support and friendship.
Dave, our prayers and thoughts are with you. May the tender mercies of the Lord strenghten you and your family during this sad time. Let us know what we can do. Bishop and Sister Connett
Dear David and Family, I am saddened to hear of your Mother's death. She was a sweet person who brought kindness and good humor to all that knew her, even as she struggled with her illness. Those same traits are evident in her children and I know that she is very proud of you. Thank you for the great example of kindness and love you have been as you cared for her. --Bishop Connett
I'm sad to hear of your loss. Our family's prayers are with you, and if there's anything we can do just let us know. Your Mom was a wonderful person, and she's sure lucky to have you as a son.
Sandy was always such a strong spirit in our ward. I remember one time that was special to me. I had recently recovered from a very serious illness, Acute Respriatory Distress Syndrome where I was hospitalized for almost a month and barely made it through. I made a comment about how grateful I was for everyone's prayers and how their love and support helped me to heal. When I went to leave the room, she grabbed my hand and held it tightly and said, "God does hear our prayers, and he healed you. Aren't we so blessed to know he is there for us?" Then she said to never forget that the power of prayer had saved my life because the power of prayer had saved her so many times. It was very touching to me to hear that from her. I knew of her past health problems and what she had been through. And she understood what I had been through and how it was the prayers that were said in our behalf to God that helped us along. I felt very close to her from then on. She was such a brave, honest, and strong woman.
Dave, I am sorry to hear of your mother's death. I will miss her infectious smile. She was such a fun and loving woman. I am honored to have known her. Liz Potter Shawl
Dave and Family, I am so sad to hear about your mom. I was always so glad to see her at Stake events; she always had a smile and a kind or funny word to say. We will all miss her very much and know that she will be watching over you always.
Carol and Helen Borland, Dear David, Bob and family, We were so sad to receive the news today of Sandy's passing. She was such a special person. I am so glad we had such a wonderful visit with her at the Borland reunion. She had the Borland quality of making every effort to be with family despite being so sick. She was Dad's youngest cousin. May God give you each comfort at this time as only He can do. --Cousin Carol and Helen
Dear Pate Family, What a sad day. But knowing that sandy finally went home brings peace to me. She was one of the most giving people i have ever met. I wish in the past few years i could have spent more time with her. However, living in Arizona, being so far away, doesnt give me much of an option. During my last visit back home my mom (ellen moorer), my daughter haleigh and i went and spent some time with her. She made some of the best tasting Lemon Meringue Pie i have ever had. Sandy has always been apart of our family and a great friend to my mother. I am so grateful i was able to speak with Sandy on Sunday and tell her what a wonderful person she was and how much she meant to me. Sandy will be missed but her example will always live on. --Amanda Harris (Moorer)
I never have met Sandy, but I have had the pleasure of meeting her daughter Patty. If Patty's character is any remote reflection of Sandy's character, than Sandy was a very special person. Sandy you did a great job raising your daughter, instilling the most important values as an individual and a mother. Patty your mother will always be so proud of you!! She may be gone in person but she lives on in you and your children. Keep her spirit alive in memories and talk story of her to your children often. God Bless, Aloha 'oe! Dianne Blaksteen and ohana
It has been a privilege for me to know Sandy. First I was her visiting teacher, then privileged to call her my friend. She was an example of cheerfulness and service in the midst of her own health problems, always had a smile on any occasion. When we brought dinner, she shed tears that Bob had to take care of her when she should be taking care of him. We pray that you will be blessed and comforted by your memories of Sandy and the great example she was to all of us. We want to be here for you.
It is a mixture of sadness and relief that I feel this day. I am sad because I will miss Sandy just as a bunch of other people will. Relief, because I know she is finally out of the pain and misery she has been in for so long. She was a great example to everyone of kindness, love, joy, service and long suffering. She truly endured to the end. I love you all and hope the best for you. My love travel with you forever. Sue Dufault
Sandy will be missed by all here on earth, but we know that one day we will be with her in heaven! Our memories of her will live forever in our minds and hearts! There was never anyone I ever knew that could carry on a conversation like Sandy. She was so full of love and kindess!! And I have yet to find someone who can make pigs in the blankets as good as Sandy!!
